IMPACT

A running account of how this project is starting to reach people.

Campus Canteen

I am currently running a small sorting trial in my school café to see how students actually use the bins. I’m collecting data on where they get confused and which labels they ignore. My goal is to turn this into a short, realistic proposal for school leaders—things like clearer signs, better bin placement, or simple rules that make it easier to recycle glass correctly.

Bottle Returns

I am in the process of designing a neighborhood survey and talking with neighbors about why glass recycling is hard in real life. I’m using their answers to draft a short guide with ideas—like better drop-off spots or clearer instructions—that I hope to share with a local council or community group. It’s less about fixing everything at once and more about starting honest, small-scale conversations that could lead to change.

Each number below is a small snapshot of how far my glass research is starting to travel. These figures will be updated as I keep learning and sharing.

My Impact Scale

Planned metrics (to be tracked over time):

Students (school) — Count of students surveyed
• Current goal: 50–70 students in the first year

Neighbors/Shops (community) — Count of neighbors surveyed
• Current goal: 30–50 neighbors/shops in the first year

These simple, count-based metrics will help me see how far my research on glass is reaching people in my school and neighborhood, and give me a baseline to compare future years against.
